Terhune Orchards Farm Store attracts local people doing their daily shopping as well as visitors on their way through the Princeton area. The Farm Store and Farm Yard are open every day all year.
Terhune Orchards farm market is a cozy shop in an old barn (over 100 years). All the fruits and vegetables grown on the farm (150 acres) are sold through the store. The rustic barn is the perfect backdrop for the pile of fresh fruits and vegetables. Terhune Ochards now grows over 35 crops. Each crop may have many varieties, for instance, 35 different apples and 21 types of peaches. Terhune Orchards starts harvesting with the first crop of strawberries in late May. Pick your own or buy freshly picked at the store. Then June brings cherries (sweet and sour), blueberries, and raspberries -- all available pick-your-own and in the store. July brings Summer apples and fantastic peaches. Every few days new varieties of peaches and apples are picked, so come often and find something new and different. Of course, July also launches our vegetable harvest -- corn, tomato, peppers, basil and fresh herbs, squash -- every vegetable you can imagine, picked daily to insure freshness and high-quality! August showcases freestone peaches -- perfect for early cooking and preserves. Nectarines are an August favorite and by the end of the month our Van Kirk Road orchard is open for Pick-Your-Own apples and raspberries. Fall is a favorite time with dozens of apple varieties, pumpkins, gourds, mums and, of course, lots of festivals. Every week brings bands, wagon rides, food, pony rides and great times at Terhune Orchards. Let's not forget Terhune Orchards' fresh, homemade apple cider -- famous for its rich flavor. We press fresh cider every few days all year long. And now all our cider is pasteurized. Flowers and flowering plants are an important part of Terhune Orchards. Pam Mount sells plants for your own garden throughout the Spring. Unique combinations (mini-gardens) in baskets and planters are available as well as cut flowers. By September, mums have come into full bloom. Winter brings decorated wreaths for the holidays. By January, bulbs and flowering baskets are side by side with our famous freesia plants. Alongside all this wonderful fruits and vegetables -- both grown here at the farm and brought in from other local farmers -- are Terhune Orchards' goodies from an on-the-farm bakery. Fruit pies (over 30 varieties) are available every day. Cookies, fruit breads, and apple crisps are made from scratch from the best ingredients! Available in the store is everything you need to complete your meal, fresh cheeses, milk, a wide variety of jams, jellies and dressings. We carry local New Jersey honey. Fresh local chicken and beef pot pies for a quick and easy dinner. Don't miss our homemade salsa (tomato, peach, nectarine, blueberry and cranberry, in season) and apple sauce!
